My Year as an Ambassador for Henry Glass Fabric from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

Hello Everyone,

My year has come to a close, and this will be my last post as a fabric ambassador for Henry Glass Fabrics.  What an opportunity this has been!  I appreciate the faith that Henry Glass Fabrics had in me.

I went back through my photos to see my creations.  I have to admit I was surprised at the volume.  Every other a month, a package would arrive at my doorstep and I had a month to create something.  They didn't make any suggestions or put any conditions on what I needed to complete for them.  All I ...

Autumn is Coming from Life in the Scrapatch

I am looking forward to Autumn in New England
and Fall Quilts.

Today is the first day I have felt a touch of fall in the air.
Mr Scrapatch and I were outside early cleaning up the debris in our yard
dropped by the wind and rain from Isaias.
We did not have any real damage,
just a lot of leaves and very small branches.
It was as if Mother Nature decided to blow all the dead and broken twigs
and such out of our trees
and onto our walk and driveway and yard for us to clean up.
We ...

Bountiful Blessings from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

Hello Everyone,

I've been very busy over the past few days machine quilting Bountiful Blessings. I will finish the binding and the pattern writing this week.  I had fun with this one.

I machine quilted a tight stipple around the leaves.  The pieced leaves are intricate, yet easy to make.

It's a little hard to see all of the stitching in the sunflower.  Trust me it's there.

I used a variegated thread for the crosshatching in the borders.

I was pleasantly surprised when a box arrived from Air Lite Manufacturing.  They kindly sent all of the Henry ...

May Goal In Progress from Life in the Scrapatch

Working on my
project today.

These are the fabrics I am using to make this a finished project.
I chose the fabrics before I started cross stitching
and chose floss colors to match the fabrics.
This is my own method.

The sewing on this one is going together quickly.

I will be posting a tutorial for this finishing method,
which I am figuring out as I go.

No waiting until the last day of the month this time ... :-)

The News From Wilder's Last Resort from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

Hello Everyone,

This is an update on a new project for Fall using Autumn is Calling by Color Principle for Henry Glass Fabrics.

I have limited fabric, so I'm trying to make the best use of what I have as I design.  In between other tasks, I'm making leaves.

Here is part of one potential layout.  I can just see this as a tablecloth during the entire Fall season.

I'm going to incorporate this circular panel.

Mr. Joe has been baking sourdough again.  Here's his loaf of cinnamon/raisin sourdough. It was delicious, and makes wonderful ...

Autumn is Calling from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

Hello Everyone,

I'm putting on my Madam Ambassador hat for Henry Glass & Co. for the next few weeks.  My fabric shipment arrived a month early. since life it a little upside down right now, and all shipping schedules have been thrown out of whack.

This gorgeous fabric, "Autumn is Calling" by Color Principle for Henry Glass & Co. was is the shipment.  Yesterday I sat down and designed and made a couple of leaf blocks.  I LOVE them!  They look a little bit lacey and are very leafy.

Feast your eyes on this fabric palette!  It is so rich and ...

The "Spoken For" Flimsy from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

Hello Everyone,

I officially have a flimsy!  "Spoken For" is a completed quilt top.

I put it on the snowbank in our driveway and took a picture between snow showers.  Yes, there is a double flange!  Flanges are like potato chips, you can't make just one.

I think this quilt is a beautiful showcase for the Far Horizons fabrics by Henry Glass Company.  I really enjoyed putting the combinations together.

I'll have to wait until it warms up outside so I can put this flimsy on my longarm.  The machine lives in my garage, and it was a ...

Dresden Tutorial - Spoken For Pattern from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

Hello Everyone,

While we are spending more time at home, quite possibly in our sewing rooms, let's learn a new technique to add to our quilting toolbox......the Dresden Plate block.  My blocks are a little different because I'm combining Fans and Blades.  The Blades are the "pointy" bits, and the fans are rounded.

This is the block I'm making using Far Horizons fabric by David Schulz for Henry Glass Fabrics.  Begin by selecting three fabrics that look gorgeous together.  With this fabric line, they all look gorgeous together!

According to my pattern called Spoken For, I ...

The Finishing Flange from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

Hello Everyone,

I just have a few minutes for a quick post before I head off to meet with my Sew'n Wild Oaks Girls at In Between Stitches.

I decided on the soft green fabric for my flange....or is it flangi??  It really puts a nice, finishing touch on the blocks.  Each block in the middle row is flanged, and you can see the difference that it makes.  I wanted it to be subtle, and classy.

I'm going to have to hurry, and make seven more blocks.  I love the fabric selection process for each block.  It ...

Seasonal Hexie Table Topper from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

Hello Everyone,

I've been so preoccupied with so many projects that I forgot to post project #3 for Henry Glass & Co.  I made a little table topper using Country Journey fabric by Jan Mott.  These are so easy to make, and they are a great hostess gift.

I began with 1-1/2" strips, and stitched them on every other side of the hexagon, and pressed toward the strip.

Then I lined up the 60 degree line on my ruler along the seam line, and trimmed two ends at a time.

I rotated the center and just kept trimming along ...

Buttons and Bows is a Wrap from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

Hello Everyone,

Buttons and Bows is quilted, bound and ready for cuddling on the couch.

The fabrics that I used are a combination of Best of Days, and Country Journey from Henry Glass Fabrics.  I have a tutorial for this quilt HERE on my blog a few posts ago.

A lot of ditching and feathers on this one.

This quilt is going to be perfect to cuddle with on the couch while watching Sanditon.  Mr. Joe knows that I am swooning over Mr. Sidney Parker played by Theo James.  Oh my talk about brooding, goods looks.  Sanditon was adapted by ...

Peek-a-Boo Pumpkins from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

Hello Everyone,

I focused on my Peek-a-Boo Pumpkins yesterday and got it all together.  The only thing missing are the eyes and the whiskers on the mice.  So I guess if I leave them off, I could call this 3 Blind Mice!

I used a buttonhole stitch when I machine appliqued.  I hand-stitched the little mice.

Each of the mice are close enough to their houses in case they need to dash inside.

The littlest mouse is already tucked safely inside her house.

Here are a few close ups on how I get my vine to curve.  First of all ...

Buttons and Bows from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

Hello Everyone,

It's been a busy week here at Wilder's Last Resort.  I loved being inside at my machine while the snow fell like crazy.  I worked on this project for Henry Glass & Co.  I'm going to call it Buttons and Bows.  There aren't any buttons on it yet, just pretend for now...ok?

With the borders, the quilt measure 46" x 46".  There are (36) 6" x 6" blocks in the quilt.

There is where the "bows" comes into the name of the quilt.  There are little flashes of red in each of the corners ...

Ribbon Border from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

Hello Everyone,

Today I'm going to show you how to make this ribbon border which will be framing my Peek-a-Boo Pumpkins.

I started by making 32 (HST) half-square triangles.  I make my HST eight at a time using an easy method.  You can watch this method by clicking HERE and viewing my video on The Quilt Show. There is a lot of information in my Patchwork Math videos.  To soak it all in, you can watch them over and over again for free!

Now that I've trimmed my HST to the correct size using a Bloc-Loc ruler, I ...

Hello Everyone,

I having the best of days designing with Best of Days fabric from Henry Glass & Co.

The instant I opened the box of Henry Glass fabrics, I saw a fall design in my future.

Stayed tuned so you can see who lives inside the little pumpkins.  I'm having fun in my role as Brand Ambassador.  I have two projects in the works.....one more to go.

You know I have to think about machine quilting my projects, and my long arm is in the unheated garage.  I actually looked at a pair of heated pants on Amazon ...

Bursting My Buttons from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

Hello Everyone,

My buttons are bursting.....not from too much food over the Holidays.....but from the fact that I can finally tell you my Country Courthouse quilt is going to be featured in QuiltMania magazine this year!

I submitted a picture to the magazine last July, and I was notified in August that it was accepted for publication.

The nerves set in immediately after acceptance, because I had to either have it quilted or do it myself.  I spoke with an award-winning professional quilter, Jill Schumacher, and she said this quilt should be completely stitched in the ditch ...

My Progress from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

Hello Everyone,

This is just a tease showing you what I've been up to this week fulfilling my role as a Brand Ambassador for Henry Glass Fabrics.  During the week I made a whole lot of blocks that look like this.

I have exactly one month to make three small projects or one large project.  I decided this time around I would go for the small projects......only because I have so many ideas on what I want to make with the fabrics.  Let me refresh your memory on the fabrics that were sent to me.  The lines of ...

New Year and New Projects from Sew'n Wild Oaks Quilting Blog

Hello Everyone and Happy New Year!

When we arrived back at the cabin after Christmas, there was a package waiting on the doorstep from Henry Glass Fabrics.  Christmas continues at Wilder's Last Resort!  I was delighted to receive a very generous package of Country Journey fabrics by Jan Mott.  This is one of the lines of fabric I will be using in my role as Brand Ambassador for Henry Glass Fabrics.

In addition to the cut yardage, the package contained two panels.  I envision cutting this panel up by season, and make a year of tablerunners.  I will make ...
